Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and your official barbecue-season kickoff. But while you’re noshing on freshly shelled crab from the coast of somewhere beautiful, don’t forget to remember what Memorial Day is really about: the soldiers who gave their lives for our country.
This year, Ohio-based brand Mizzen+Main, known for its clean, All-American designs, is remembering our fallen heroes in style. The sales from the brand's SEAL insignia-emblazoned tee will support the Navy SEAL Foundation. The shirt sells for $30, and $5 of each sale will be donated to the foundation.
The T-shirt launch coincides with this year’s Navy SEAL Memorial Challenge on May 24 in Half Moon Bay, California. The fitness mavens at CrossFit, Inc. designed the main event for the day: a one-mile run followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats and another one-mile run. The "Murph" challenge, hosted by Norcal CrossFit owner Jason Khalipa and Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, is named in memory of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who was awarded the U.S. military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his bravery during the war in Afghanistan. So even if your push-up record is not yet SEALs material, you can still snag a shirt at mizzenandmain.com to show your support.
